Wicked Water Damage

Water on the inside is never a good thing.
We knew going into this project that there would be surprises, but we never thought ...
The more we pulled up the laminate, the more water damage we found! UGH!! The only reason I'm sharing this - and it's not to complain -  is so others who intend on buying a Class C Motorhome will benefit from our experiences. The guy we bought it from is either super stupid, or dumb like a fox! I will tell you this... we will never make this mistake again.
We ended up tearing it all out. What a mess.  If you look closely, you can see the shine from the still wet plywood. I cried.

There will be no camping this year.

A Camping We Will Go

Welcome to Midwest Motorhome

We are a quasi camping family. One day I decided I wanted our kids to experience the outdoors, so we decided to go camping over the Memorial Day weekend in 2011.  We were in a tent, it rained all weekend, and to make a long story short, I convinced my husband to buy a 2009 Wildwood travel trailer before we left the campground!

However, after a year of "campering" we decided we didn't want to tow our home-away-from-home, we wanted to DRIVE it! We sold the Wildwood and were once again on a hunt for the perfect camper for our family. With $10,000 in our pocket, we went shopping.

At the Yogi Bear Campground in Millbrook, IL we  found this 2000 Coachman pictured below.

The RV is little rough and it needs a lot of TLC, but the price was right and the miles are low (30,000 ish). This isn't the first restoration project my husband has taken on, just the biggest one... 29 feet to be exact.

The Midwest Motorhome Blog is the story of one family's adventure in motorhome restoration, and the fun after it's finished!!
